The Texas Association for Domestic Relations Offices is Coming to the Mountains


Lubbock, Texas – October 15, 2018 – For the first time ever, the Texas Association of Domestic Relations Offices (TADRO) is having their annual conference in Lubbock beginning October 16, 2018 and concluding on the October 18, 2018. The Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) for Lubbock County, a division of the courts for Lubbock County, will host the event at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center. Employees from eleven counties will learn about a number of different topics that could impact various services provided Domestic Relations Offices. On Wednesday, the Association will recognize US Senator John Cornyn with a special award for his efforts in working with federal officials in preserving the state's effective child support monitoring activities overseen by the Texas Attorney General. Attendees will hear from Texas Tech University School of Law Horn Professor of Law, Brian Shannon, and StarCare Specialty Healthcare System Chief Executive Officer, Beth Lawson, regarding the purpose of the Texas Supreme Court's Mental Health Commission. They will also discuss what policy recommendations might be forthcoming in the 2019 Legislative Session. Other speakers include Colonel David Lewis (ret), David Slayton, Administrative Director for the Texas Office of Court Administration, and Professor Charles Crews from the Texas Tech University College of Education.

Additionally, two local groups, the Lubbock High School Mariachi de Oro and Baby Jade from Caldwell Kids Entertainment, will be showcased during the conference.
