Reward Increased for Information on Murder
(LUBBOCK, TX) – There is now a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of suspects involved in the murder of 20-year-old Tyshaun Bates. The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit continues to investigate the murder and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
On the night of April 10th, Lubbock police officers responded to the Lubbock Square Apartments in the 4600 block of 50th Street for reports of shots fired. Officers located Bates with life threatening injuries inside his apartment. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Investigators with the Metro Special Crime Unit arrived on scene to immediately begin an investigation into the shooting. Based on the initial investigation it appears two black males entered the apartment and got into an altercation with Bates. At some point during the altercation, one of the suspects fired a shot at Bates and struck him.
Texas Anti-Gang Center investigators are also assisting with this investigation.
Kerby and Wade Law Offices in Lubbock is dedicating an additional $5,000 to the original Crime Line reward, bringing the total possible reward to $10,000 for information about the murder.
